Danny Weis

Danny joined his first band at age 13, taught guitar at 16, and by the age of 18, had co-founded the 1960’s group, Iron Butterfly. While playing at famed Sunset Strip clubs like The Whiskey A Go Go, The Galaxy, and the Troubador, he quickly earned the reputation of “great guitar player” by his peers, and many fans. He also caught the attention of music greats Ahmet Ertegan, Paul Rothchild, Al Kooper and David Crosby – just to name a few.
In 1968, he accepted the offer to join Rothchild’s super group, Rhinoceros. This renowned R&B band is perhaps best known for its funky instrumental hit, “Apricot Brandy”, co-written by Danny, and featuring one of his trademark guitar licks.
In 1979, Danny appeared as Bette Midler’s guitarist in her film, “The Rose”, which was nominated for six Academy Awards. He received Platinum and Gold albums for his work as bandleader/guitarist for the movie’s soundtrack.
