The Upstairs Series presents Jeremy Voltz. Indie-soul artist Jeremy Voltz has a voice that is powerful and haunting, reminiscent of Jeff Buckley, Stevie Wonder, and Hozier. As a vocalist, Voltz has performed for huge crowds on some of Toronto’s greatest stages, including the Sony Centre, NXNE, City Hall, Nathan Phillips Square, Koerner Hall, and live on the CBC at the Glenn Gould Studio. He has also toured internationally to the UK, Italy, Japan, Mexico, and across the US as a feature soloist with acclaimed vocal group Countermeasure, whose music video, “Life is Fine”, released spring of 2017, skyrocketed to over 300K views on YouTube in just a few months.
Voltz has also gained notoriety as a songwriter; three of his songs (“First”, and two unreleased songs, “Wrong With Me” and “Skipping Stone”) were semi-finalists in the Canadian Songwriting competition, and in 2017 he was awarded a music grant through Toronto radio station Z103.5’s FundMeFest for the song, “Wrong With Me”. His song “Cloud in the Sky” was used by Ford Canada for a national commercial. His debut single, “First”, was produced by NU Music Group, a rising name in artist development and production in Toronto, representing hot new artists like Mirian and Shaene.
“Voltz has some absolute PIPES and he can sing with soul”, says Ear To the Ground Music. “When you combine those elements, you get a song like ‘First.’” “First” is distributed through Higher Reign Music and Sony Music Canada, and the accompanying FACTOR supported music video was released August of 2018 through Orchard. Voltz also just released a brand new EP, “Bend the Tracks”, which was editor’s choice and pick of the month for October on APM Music. His track “What Tomorrow Will Bring” was featured in the Hallmark film “Winter Love Story”. Voltz is currently working on his new Toronto Arts Council supported album, “Running Away”, to be released fall of 2019.
